Job Description

Our client is currently seeking an experienced Shipping/Receiving Supervisor to join their team! The Supervisor plays a critical role in developing and maintaining an organized and effective workflow through the warehouse and shipping departments. This position ensures quality, timeliness, and professional inventory storage and delivery of both finished products and raw materials. The role will include hands-on leadership in Lean Manufacturing, inventory management, BRC quality systems, innovation, and the latest systems technology.

Position Type: Exempt/Salaried

Shift: Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM (must be flexible to supervise both 1st and 2nd shifts)

Salary: $65,000 - $75,000 (based on experience)

Location: Wilmington, MA

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, direct, train, and manage warehouse and shipping staff, fostering an improvement-oriented culture.
  • Define staffing levels and optimize workflow efficiency, making recommendations for improvements when necessary.
  • Identify, recommend, and implement lean improvements in processes.
  • Lead or collaborate with continuous improvement teams focusing on lean methodologies, sustainability, training, audits, and controlled documents.
  • Oversee accurate and timely shipments, including special projects that require unique packaging and logistics.
  • Manage inventory of packaging supplies, cartons, and shipping materials to meet production needs.
  • Monitor the maintenance of warehouse and shipping equipment for both preventative and emergency repairs to maximize efficiency.
  • Work closely with teams and departments to support workflow and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with departments to enhance quality and process improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate with customer service regarding mailing lists, inventory, and other distribution-related matters.
  • Compile and prepare reports, manuals, and other management-required information.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and work instructions in compliance with BRC and Lean Manufacturing.
  • Remain current on shipping rates and choose the most cost-effective and timely delivery methods when appropriate.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make informed decisions quickly.
  • Excellent time management to effectively balance multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Clear and professional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A customer-focused approach, ensuring timely and thorough responses to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in HR-related responsibilities such as recruitment, training, performance management, and disciplinary actions.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and other relevant software.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Preferred: Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and ISO/BRC quality standards is a plus.
  • Strong proficiency in math, reading, and writing in English.
  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in a warehouse or logistics environment.
  • Ability and willingness to obtain forklift certification.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform tasks that require standing or bending for extended periods.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
